The Thermage procedure
If you are interested in receiving cosmetic changes to your skin but do not wish to undergo a plastic surgery, Thermage is a great alternative procedure. Proven safe and efective by clinical studies, Thermage utilizes technology produced by the ThermaCool® System to strengthen existing collagen structures while activating new growth. Patients are able to see results directly following the procedure, which will progressively improve over several months. Another benefit of Thermage is that it does not discriminate its effectiveness based upon skin colors, but lasers and chemical treatments do.
How Thermage Works
The Thermage procedure affects collagen structures and tissue deep within the skin while a cool, calming liquid is sprayed on its surface. A ThermaTip™ is placed on a hand-held device that delivers energy to inner structures as it touches the skin. The energy creates heat that tightens the tissues, and the formation of new collagen soon begins. Thermage is a non-invasive comsetic procedure.
An experienced technician ensures your safety and comfort for the entire duration of the short process, which usually lasts twenty minutes to two hours. Another benefit of the Thermage treatment is that a single session produces significant results, and patients rarely need to return for more appointments. Results last anywhere from six months up to years, at which point another treatment may be necessary. Thermage can tighten skin almost anywhere on the body, and serves as a popular alternative to cosmetic facial procedures, such as neck and jowl tightening.
The Healing Process
The recovery period is brief, and many patients do not require any resting period following their Thermage session. A discoloration and swelling of the treated skin is normal, and generally fades within the first twenty-four hours following the procedure. A specific skin care regimen and the use of sunscreen may be recommended to promote the most satisfactory results. |
