Dr. Richard D. Gentile a board certified facial plastic surgeon with offices in Garfield Heights/Independence, Fairlawn and Boardman Ohio was an invited faculty member at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery held in early October 2009 in San Diego California.  Smartlifting™ including LaserFacialSculpting™   was featured in three presentations.  The Laser Workshop highlights new laser technologies for  Facial Plastic Surgery and Dr. Gentile’s Smartlifting™ experience was reviewed.  During a course “Innovations in Facial Plastic Surgery” Dr. Gentile reviewed the nearly 3 year history of the development of Smartlifting™ including LaserFacialSculpting™   techniques in the nearly 400  procedures he has completed.  The one hour instructional course was presented to Facial Plastic Surgeons interested in learning the new technique and is now being attended by many surgeons who are performing the technique as well. Commenting on the Smartlifting™  developments Dr. Gentile said,  “We are pleased that in Europe, Canada and now Asia these advanced techniques are being adopted to benefit patients seeking less invasive methods of facial rejuvenation”. 

Less invasive procedures for facial rejuvenation are becoming more and more popular as prospective patients seek out treatment options that offer the best possible results with the least amount of downtime.  As the demand for procedures increases and patients spend more time researching options, more informed choices are being made and many times patients opt for technologically advanced procedures. Patients are more likely to undergo these types of procedures since they reduce risk, specifically anesthetic risks.

Smartlifting ™   including LaserFacialSculpting™   techniques offer three distinct advantages over more traditional techniques.  Internal laser surgery reduces intraoperative bleeding making it easier for the surgeon to visualize and complete the lifting portion of the surgery.  The vertical vector “Smartlift” utilizes self retaining sutures to add volume to the cheeks and mid face restoring the heart shaped face of youth and simultaneously corrects neck and jawline laxity.  The internal laser technique creates an intrinsic tissue tightening by heating the skin to a predetermined temperature, an added benefit not possible in conventional facelifts.

Smartlifting ™ including LaserFacialSculpting™ has been presented at the Meetings of the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, The American Society of Plastic Surgery, and The International Maser Course on Aging Skin in Paris, France earlier this year and the American Society for Laser Medicine &Surgery.  Dr. Gentile has trained  Plastic Surgeons in the Smartlifting techniques and these Surgeons are now performing these procedures around the country, Canada, Europe and now Asia .
