Richard Gentile, MD, is a distinguished Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, teacher, author, and founder of Gentile Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Laser Center. Board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS) and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (ABO-HNS) and a fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (FAAFPRS), Dr. Gentile brings a wealth of experience and world-class skill to every patient who visits his Youngstown and Akron, Ohio, offices.
Dr. Gentile’s certifications and background give him a unique understanding of the complexities involved in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, eyes, and head and neck. As one of only 31 dual-board-certified surgeons in the state of Ohio, Dr. Gentile has served his community in northern Ohio and is respected internationally for his innovation, artistry, and technical skills.
Dr. Gentile is an active researcher in aesthetic laser technology and a frequently invited lecturer at the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) meetings and others worldwide. He is known as the creator of “Smartlifting,” a Scarless Laser-Assisted Face and Neck Lift procedure that improves surgical results in Facelift surgery by reducing recovery time and increasing skin tightening. Dr. Gentile has performed thousands of these technologically advanced procedures in his specialized Fairlawn and Boardman, Ohio centers. Smartlifting has given rise to many other non-exclusive techniques of facial rejuvenation that utilize laser, radiofrequency, and plasma technologies.
Dr. Gentile has written and presented his specialty nationally and internationally and has published extensively. His publications and presentations include medical journal articles as well as book chapters on facial rejuvenation, skin rejuvenation, and rhinoplasty. In 2011, Dr. Gentile’s book on Neck Rejuvenation was published as a textbook for Plastic Surgeons. It is the only comprehensive textbook on neck rejuvenation in facial plastic surgery. Dr. Gentile has served on national expert panels on skin rejuvenation (including non-invasive technology), facial rejuvenation, rhinoplasty, and new technology in Facial Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Gentiles is also proud to serve his community by working pro bono with Face to Face, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting people who need reconstructive surgery as a result of domestic violence. He believes that helping the victims of domestic violence is a small gesture of our support for their efforts to rebuild their lives after personal tragedy.
