Fractional Skin Laser Treatments

“Fractional” laser technology simply means that only specific areas of skin are targeted by the laser during treatment. Dr. Gentile now offers superior UltraPulse Lumenis “fractional” CO2 laser technology. You can expect dramatic immediate effects on tone, texture and wrinkles, and noticeable long-term improvement from new collagen growth.

The versatile UltraPulse suite provides a light “erbium like” peel with minimal healing time or the advantages of a deeper, more dramatic resurfacing. The secret lies in the UltraPulse technology: pulses of laser light are produced, rather than a continuous beam. The enhanced precision, control and accuracy of unique short-duration, high-energy, pulsed delivery allows Dr. Gentile to gently and precisely treat a wide range of aesthetic imperfections with outstanding results.

ActiveFX is an anti-aging skin laser treatment for fine facial lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, clogged pores and loose skin. The face, neck, chest, arms and hands can safely be treated. The effects are usually dramatic, with skin tightening, reduction of wrinkles and fine lines, improved skin tone and texture, and plumping of the skin with new collagen over time. minimal downtime

DeepFX is an anti-aging laser skin care treatment used to treat scars and dermal lesions. Similar to ActiveFX, DeepFX is also a fractional CO2 laser, but DeepFX has a smaller spot size and penetrates deeper into the skin. DeepFX is part of a treatment known as Bridge Therapy by Lumenis, Treats heavier lines, wrinkles, acne scars and deeper dyschromias.

Procedure

The Active FX™ with Lumenis’Ultrapulse Encore is the latest advance in fractional CO2 skin resurfacing for wrinkles, sundamage, scars, and pigmentation. Dividing the CO2 beam into small “fractional” spots allows for faster, minimally uncomfortable treatment with usually great results. During the procedure, the high-energy beam of laser light penetrates the skin in “fractional” columns, causing the upper layer to peel off and heating the dermis to stimulate new collagen. “Bridges” of untouched skin promote healing quickly. An anesthetic cream is used before the one-time treatment, and most patients say they feel warmth similar to sunburn. Treating the face takes less than 30 minutes. Patients can drive themselves home. A gentle washing and moisturizing routine is followed. Five days is usually all it takes for the redness and roughness from the treatment to fade. Sunsensitivity may last 2-3 weeks. Results may last for years

Recovering From Laser Skin Resurfacing

Patients report minor to mild amounts of discomfort, which can be kept at bay with prescription pain medicine. Swelling of the face can be remedied by a cold compress, which also doubles as temporary pain relief. Minor scabbing will occur over the treated skin, but rarely persists for longer than ten days. If Dr. Gentile elects to bandage your face, they will be removed within a week following your laser treatment. The rosy discoloration of the skin fades in time, generally several weeks up to six months. Camouflaging cosmetics can make the skin appear a more subtle tone for the time being.

Most patients return to work within ten to fourteen days after a laser skin resurfacing treatment, but should not stress the body in any way for four to six weeks. The results of a CO2 laser procedure can reverse the signs of aging skin, but will not prevent further degradation. The use of sunscreen should become a daily routine for up to a year after the procedure, and will help to maintain the skin’s new youthful appearance.
